How to Do Chores

Chores include cleaning and refilling supplies in the shower house, main building bathrooms, retreat center bathrooms, vacuuming, sweeping, and dish washing/sanitizing.

Sweeping the caf-a-gym-a-torium is a large task for oneself so getting a hand will help. Start with sweeping the clear spaces. Like below the basketball hoop, or around the doorways. You will need to sweep the game room too. When the tables are clean and dry, either pack them up with the chairs on the wall, or flip chairs onto the table. Then sweep under the tables or where the tables use to be.

Locations of showers: 6 in the bath house, 6 in the retreat center, and 4 upstairs on both west and east sides

Cleaning the bath house/ retreat center is relatively easy, your campers will need proper direction. Grab a cleaning kit from the dish room. Assign some campers to sanitize the showers(8 and 6) and sinks(4 and 4). Assign some campers to sweeping the floor, there should be two brooms in the room. And some campers to cleaning/ scrubbing the toilets. So sanitizing the showers requires a rag with a bottle of sanitizing liquid. You tell your campers to spray the shower stalls down and then wipe the bottom/drain and handle and shower head. Also wiping away any dirt or leave blades. And spray the sinks and wipe them down/out.

Locations of toilets: in bathrooms in the main building . Two upstairs on the east side and two upstairs on the west side. Two downstairs on the west side. There are 6 toilets in the bathhouse and 6 in the retreat center.

You clean toilets by first laying down the blue cleaner syrup in a circular motion. You move from stall to stall doing this. Then after about 5 minutes you take the brush scrubber and scrub the entire inside of the bowl. Next you can just flush(Optional).

Sweep any floor that is not carpet. That’s every cabin and bathroom and sometimes outside on the patio or sidewalk. I sweep the sidewalk at the start of each week so cabins seem and look a lot more friendlier to campers and their family. We do want to leave a good impression after all.

You should clean the windows or mirrors with the Windex if you think they need the clarity. Just spray the glass and wipe with stiff paper(For best results).
